Scotty had a near fatal accident while surfing. He fell on a wave and hit the bottom and damaged his spinal cord leaving him temporarily paralyzed.
The accident happened at the beginning of March and Scotty is improving far better than anyone expected, but he is by no means out of the woods yet. He has a long road to recovery and he needs our help.
Scotty is an active member of the
Surfrider Foundation
South Florida Longboard Association
Christian Surfers.
Scotty has a very loving and caring family that consists of his daughter Danielle Shaw, his extremely caring and understanding ex-wife, Kathleen Shaw, his Mother and Father, Virginia and Bill Shaw. He has a younger sister, Vicki and brother-n-law Brian, they have a daughter, Hannah. He has an Aunt & Uncle in Boston, MA and 3 cousins.
And we can't forget about Cosmo the surfing Pitbull. I believe Cosmo is a rescue dog. He definitely has the same laid-back vibe as his old man.

Who is Scotty to Shrimp Creole Surf?
Scotty is a dedicated member of the morning crew and one of the few who consistently gets out and takes pictures! To me personally, he is a good friend and a role model for the meaning of stoke! One of the most generous and caring people I know.

Scotty Shaw here, Hope all who read this are doing well. I would like to thank everyone who is helping me out during my slight and hopefully temporary dilemma. Thank you everyone for your prayers, thoughts, support, and generosity. No matter how big or how small, they are all a huge help in getting me through these times and I can’t thank you enough. There is no way I could list all the people, organizations, businesses, and local shops that have helped me out because there would not be enough room on the page. I am having trouble finding words to say this, all I can think to say is thank you. Even though I didn’t ask for any help, it all came pouring in and it was very overwhelming for me. It was a great feeling to see everyone come together just to help me, and it is so cool seeing how the local South Florida surf community can come together to help each other out. I hope that one day, I can be there for all of you just like you are here for me. As for how I‘m doing now, it is slow going, but I am staying positive. I am walking about three and a half times around the block… and trust me, the half counts. I am also up to a whopping six pound dumb bell now, which is a big step up from helium balloons. One of my main goals is to get back to driving, so I can get out and see some of you all. Of course the main goal is to surf again! It’s a long slow road, but I’m getting there especially with all of your love! Thanks again for everything. I love all you guys and gals,
Scotty Shaw
P.S. Watch out for those shallow spots if you know what I mean.
